The Director of Panchayat Elections in the UT of Daman and Diu supervises the preparation of electoral rolls and conduct elections to Panchayati Raj Institutions and Municipality in the UT of Daman and Diu under the guidance, superintendence, direction and control of the Election Commission for UTs and functions just like the Chief Electoral Officer under the Election Commission of India. The Director of Panchayat Elections is appointed by the Election Commission for UTs in consultation with the Administrator of Daman and Diu, in exercise of the powers vested in it under Rule 8 of the Daman and Diu Panchayat (Election Procedure) Rules, 2014.
